Saturday night, the mini me and I went to see  Lorraine Hansberry Theatre’s Joyful Noise: A Gospel Celebration of Christmas.

This show is off the hook! A  ”hand-clapping, soul-stirring, dance-in-the-aisles celebration”,  is a fitting description.

If you go to this show and close your eyes, you’ll think you’re in a room with Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Mahalia Jackson. The voices are that powerful. Funny moments, too. The Shepherds dance, sing, and strut to familiar melodies, and the church scenes are almost too authentic.

You’ll laugh, cry, stomp, sing, dance and clap! This is a wonderful event for the entire family.  Don’t miss it!

Joyful Noise indeed. :-)

The Lorraine Hansberry Theatre was founded in 1981 by the late Stanley E. Williams, founding artistic director, and the late Quentin Easter, founding executive director. We are blessed that their work continues here in the Bay Area. Go to the show–better yet, become a member of the theatre, so you can support year round!
