The celibacy conversation has gotten a lot of attention here at thenikkithomasnetwork.com and a new feature film is bringing the issue to the big screen. “Jumping the Broom” produced by Tracey Edmonds and Bishop T.D. Jakes is challenging the idea that a man and woman can’t keep their goodies tucked away until marriage. The movie is based on the story of two love birds holding onto their promise to God to stay pure and withhold from having sex until that sacred day.
Cast member Meagan Good, who plays character Sabrina’s maid of honor, totally stands behind the intent of the project and told BET.com, “It’s a refreshing, spiritual film. I love the fact that they did wait [to have sex]. I think the film overall will encourage people to be less critical and judgmental, and remind people that when it comes to love and relationships, it’s okay to be with who you want to be with.”
It isn’t a common idea these days to abstain from sex until marriage, but the new comedy is purposed to encourage and challenge audiences to pursue that narrow road.
“It’s not done in an over-the-top, preachy way,” Good reassures audiences. ”It’s done in an entertaining way where you’ll receive it. For me, that was one of the main reasons I did the movie, because I am a Christian and I love the Lord with all of my heart.”
“Jumping the Broom” will be in theaters May 6.
