The square face, the long fingers and an uncanny ability to bring people of all races and ages together to bark like dogs. One guess on who I am talking about. Allright, it’s Arsenio Hall, not a quarterback for the University of Georgia Bulldogs and he is returning to late-night television- he being Arsenio.
Actor-comedian Hall is developing a new late-night venture with CBS Television Distribution, which is slated for a fall 2013 premiere.
The as-yet-untitled late-night show will be carried by Tribune Broadcasting stations, with Tribune partnering on the production of the show. Hall’s new show is set to launch on 17 Tribune stations, including New York’s WPIX, KTLA in Los Angeles and Chicago’s WGN. The show has so far been sold in all of the top 10 markets, covering 52 percent of the country, with more to come.
CBS Television Stations in cities including Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta and Detroit will also air the series, with stations from Local TV LLC in cities such as Denver, Cleveland and St. Louis also on board to carry the show.
Hall will executive produce the new series.
Hall’s “The Arsenio Hall Show” ran from 1989 to 1994, winning two Emmys and giving then-candidate Bill Clinton a sizable boost when he performed “Heartbreak Hotel” on the saxophone during a 1992 episode. The series was produced by Paramount Domestic Television, which has since become CBS Television Distribution.

Earlier this year, Hall won the most recent season of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
