He made the role of George Jefferson, a cultural icon! According to TMZ.com Sherman Hemsley has passed away in his home in El Paso, TX.
Hemsley first appeared as George Jefferson on the sitcom “All in the Family”. Later on in his career, he starred in “Amen” another hilarious series that showcased his flair for dancing and over the top personality acting.
He had no wife and no kids. At this point the cause of death has not been determined.
