Shepard Fairey, the man who created the iconic Obama “Hope” poster, couldn’t  put the paintbrush down when it came to the case of Trayvon Martin.

Fairey is known for his amazing artwork and has continuously drawn  inspiration from people who’ve made a significant difference in news and pop  culture.

Commissioned by Ebony Magazine, Fairey created the piece a few  months ago and will be featured in the magazine when it hits newsstands this week.

NEW YORK — Grammy award-winning singer Chaka Khan will perform a tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the Apollo Theater’s gala and awards ceremony. The historic Harlem theater confirmed Friday that the “I Feel for You” singer will perform in her friend’s memory.

Lionel Richie and the late Etta James will be inducted into the theater’s hall of fame during the June 4 gala. Soul Train creator Don Cornelius and songwriter Nick Ashford will also be honored posthumously. Richie’s first Apollo appearance was in the early 1970s. Matthew Herman of The Harvest Family Church in Charlotte, NC publicly apologized via Twitter for making false statements about Fantasia and her manager.  Herman posted this message on Twitter:

“I, Matthew Herman, would like to offer my most sincere and humble apology to Brian Dickens, BD Management and to Fantasia,” Matthew tweeted. “On March 14, 2012, I posted false and harmful statements about Brian Dickens, BD Management and Fantasia to my Matthew writes twitter account.”

Covergirl Queen Latifah was in California over the weekend helping celebrate the 29thAnnual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival.  There has always been talk about the Queen’s sexuality and to this date no official statement from her on the matter.
