Last week , the natural hair blogosphere went into overdrive when a photo of First Lady Michelle Obama wearing a halo of kinky curls hit the Internet.  Although Mrs. O looked stunning in the photo, it didn’t take long for us to realize that something about the picture seemed a little…off.

The photo in question came to the attention of blogger Maeling Tapp, author of Natural Chica, when her Twitter followers began sending her messages saying that Obama’s hair looked a lot like her own.  Sure enough, upon examination of the First Lady’s curly coif, Tapp discovered that it was indeed her…

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has determined that Whitney Houston’s official cause of death is: “drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”

The singer was found in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel room on Feb. 11, hours before a pre-Grammy party. She was 48.

The coroner’s office also said the manner of death was an “accident.”

However, the toxicology report adds that “Cocaine and metabolites were identified and were contributory to the death. Marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax), Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) were identified but did not contribute to the death.”

Nikki’s Note: Now THIS is a VERY good question. I breastfed my daughter for two years. It was a great bonding experience, and convenient to boot. Great info in this article. Please share with friends. Tonya Lewis Lee and Kimberly Seals Allers debut breastfeeding website

When Beyonce took little Blue Ivy out for a lunch date and breastfed her publicly, the notoriously private superstar set off a firestorm across the internet. Breastfeeding advocates wondered what impact her decision to breastfeed would have on her fans and non-fans alike.

One of the most vocal responses came from author…

by Robyn Crawford I met her when she was 16. It was at a summer job. I was working at a community center in East Orange, New Jersey, and she was working just like the rest of us. She was there to work. She introduced herself as “Whitney Elizabeth Houston,” and I knew right away she was special. Not a lot of people introduced themselves with their middle names back then. She had peachy colored skin and she didn’t look like anyone I’d ever met in East Orange, New Jersey.

She was nothing like the Whitney Houston she became but at…
