Motorcycle jackets are hot for spring! Not your traditional black leather jacket, but this season’s jacket has a sexy updated look for spring.
You don’t need to own a hog to look cool. Pair a biker jacket with a dress instead of a blazer to spice up your outfit.
Ladies, get ready. You too can say you’re wearing a dress designed by the same person who designed Michelle’s Obama’s inauguration gown — Jason Wu.
Wu will be launching a collection at Target on Feb. 5. The 53-piece collection includes dresses, handbags and scarves — each piece under $60. Here’s a sample of some of his collection (courtesy of Glamzonsblog.com).
But you’d better hurry as the collection will only be available until March 6 or until supplies last. Don’t forget to mark your calendar.
Did you watch the Golden Globes last Sunday? No doubt you were not only interested in who would win awards for best picture, actor and actress, but also who wore the best fashions.
Here’s a sample of some of my favs:
And some of my least favorites:
As I’m sure you’re aware styles never really change, they just get recycled. The last time peplums made a big splash was in the 1980s (they also made a brief appearance in 2009). I loved the look then, and I’m liking the updated look now.
Peplum is a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress. Its modern debut was in the 1940s as a way to accentuate the waistline (and hide the hips!).
Designers are again bringing this classic style back with a 21st century flare.
Are you…
Although color blocking has been around for awhile, it’s still a trend for 2012. Mixing bright spring colors together can be fun!
Color blocking is combining two or more different colors that complement each other in a single outfit. Those who are matchy-matchy may have a hard time with this trend, but take a look at some samples below:
You don’t have to go out and buy new clothes to get in on this trend. Use the color wheel below to combine colors of separates that are already in your closet, and put them together.
A staple in every woman’s wardrobe should be the Little Black Dress (LBD). The party season is winding down but if you have plans this weekend and don’t know what to wear, check your closet for a LBD.
The LBD is a timeless, classic piece you can wear for years to come. Here are five ways to update your LBD:
1. Make it Pop with Leopard Pumps
2. Add Some Polka Dot Tights (See: I’m Seeing Dots)
3. Make it Stand Out — Brooch It
I had a great trip to Manila, Philippines this past November. My previous visit was in 1993 but was a totally different experience. I was there for a convention and stayed at the renowned Manila Hotel, one of country’s top hotels. I didn’t get an opportunity to explore much of the city so I was looking forward to this visit.
This time, I stayed in a newly constructed high-rise condo overlooking a golf course in Mandaluyong, a city in the Metro Manila area. It was a great location – albeit a very busy area. There…
As the weather cools, there’s nothing like a nice fur piece to keep you warm. Fur vests are hot for fall, but don’t fret if you’re not into wearing animal fur. Faux fur is just as stylish and you don’t have to worry about a PETA (People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals) member dousing you with red paint.
Designers have made improvements in the quality of faux fur and you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
Jennifer Lopez has teamed up with Kohl’s and designer Rachel Zoe works with QVC to offer faux fur styles at…

OK, I’ll admit it, I have been matchy-matchy on occasion. I’ve matched my jewelry — earrings with a necklace or ring with a bracelet. I’ve even matched clothes with shoes, hat with a jacket, you get the idea. My fashionista daughter reminds me that everything doesn’t have to match.
Matchy-matchy is when you match an outfit too much — same colors, same fabric, same pattern, etc. — too much of a good thing. Being match-matchy is not only boring, but can date you as an old school dresser.
What about you? Are you matchy-matchy? Be honest. Do your shoes and handbag match? What about your belt and shoes? And how…
One of my favorite colors is the color for fall — blue. Yves Klein blue is what designers are using this fall and it’s the new black. Post World War II artist Yves Klein created this remarkable color which is akin to a royal or cobalt blue.
This shade of blue works well with most neutral colors and can freshen up a rather drab wardrobe. Pick up a jacket or skirt or really be daring and get a sexy dress in this bold color. You’ll soon be feeling a little blue.
